Aloha from Beijing,
By God’s grace we are COVID-free despite a small
flare-up that has occurred here in the last couple weeks. Our hearts go out to
so many people and places being hit much harder. May the Lord protect and
provide for you and your loved ones.
We have two big news items….
Tomorrow (Tuesday 9 am in Beijing) Dayna is scheduled
to have her gall bladder removed. She has been in pain for some time and was
able to get a thorough check up last week. All of her vitals checked out well!
But the gall bladder has a couple stones and is inflamed. Doctors recommend
removal as the best option. We are thankful for an excellent surgeon – a member
of the BICF from USA – who has operated on Mark. She is leaving China in a
couple weeks, so we wanted to have her do this before she leaves. We anticipate
Dayna will just be one night in the hospital post-op. Your prayers that our
Great Physician will guide our friend’s hands and extend His healing are much
appreciated.
Our other news – which is still being further
clarified – we will be focusing our ministry on the wider the 13 other BICF
churches (preaching/teaching, mentoring leaders), Haidian church, and outreach
to the 23 million of Beijing – no longer pastoring the BICF ZGC English
congregation. This decision has not come without pain, but the Lord of the
Harvest continues to open great opportunities here.
That said, we are seeking
Him – and asking your prayers and advice – whether we should follow our plan to
stay here until June 2021 (when our visa expires) or move elsewhere. We know
this is a surprise! Your prayers in this time of transition are much
appreciated.
